At the Kelso ram sales last friday (13/9/2013) we bought two new rams:
The first is the most impressive first lamb of the Solwaybank pen:
FHT 13:059 sired by Rhaeadr Rastafari. DAM JOD K17 sired by Meikleson Impression.
Full brother sold to John McKay for £1800 at a previous Kelso sale.
The second lamb we bought is a son of the 90.000 gns breed record ram Ardlea Arbenning. This Rhaeadr lamb is March born out of a very good Rhaeadr Rossie daughter A12:J122.
In the Suffolk rings the top price of the day came from Robbie Wilson’s Strathisla pen, he is a Rhaeadr Ring-a-Ding son and sold to Mark Evans, Jubillee flock at £5000.
Top price shearling in this section came at £4400 from John Park’s Drinkstone pen, he is by Drinkstone Durham Improver and out of a home bred ewe. He was purchased by the Ingram family, Logie Durno.
Then at £4200 was Ian and Judith Barbour with a Rhaeadr Rastafari son, he heads to Holland with Patrick Haccou.
Making £3800 was a lamb from George Stuart’s Birness pen, he is by the 8000gns Rhaeadr Giggsy who has sired lambs to 20,000gns and out of a dam by Rhaeadr Flash Harry.
David and Paula Reed sold a lamb from their Calfpark flock for £3000, he sold in a three way split to Jimmy Douglas, Sandy Fraser and Messrs Robinson.
The only price of note in the Charollais ring in what was a very sticky trade was a Logie Durno Lynch Pin son from Langside, he is out of a dam by Hundalee and sold for £2000 to Paul Slatter.
Brian Ryder secured £3000 for a 15/16 Beltex shearling by Borderesk Powerpoint, he sold to the John Hall, Inglewood Edge.
