The champion from yesterday’s pre-sale show at Stirling has led the trade this afternoon at 28,000gns. This was Robbie Wilson’s first lamb in, FNV 12:090, a son of Rookery Rooney and out of a dam by Lakeview Leeroy. He sold in a three way split to Geoff Biddulph, Pexhill, Chris and Sally Holmes, Rookery, and Iain and Judith Barbour, Solwaybank.
Next best at 20,000gns was one from George Stuart’s Birness flock, 1W 12:044 (lot 164), a son of Rhaeadr Giggsy out of a dam by Rhaeadr Flash Harry. This one was knocked down to Patrick Donnelly, Donrho.
At 18,000gns was Myfyr Evans’ last lamb in (lot 201). This son of Ardlea Arbennig, the 90,000gns breed record holder, is out of a dam by Baileys Brigadier the Second. He sold in a four way split, with equal shares in this lamb taken by Robbie Wilson, Strathisla, Mark Priestley, Limestone, Patrick Grant and the Suffern family.
A ram lamb by 23,000gns sire Rookery Rooney has taken the top ticket in the pre-sale show of Suffolks at Stirling today, with the lamb coming from Robbie Wilson’s Strathisla flock.
This lamb, FNV 12:090 (lot 132) is out of a dam by Lakeview Leeroy and goes back to Glenho Gurka, with his grand dam being a full sister to 14,00gns tup Strathisla Schumacher. This lamb was I believe reserve breed champion at the Royal Highland last month.
Reserve championship honours today were taken by Gary Beacom’s lamb JFF 12:140 (lot 114) from his Lakeview flock. This one is by Cairness Cyclone, the 26,000gns National Sale champion in 2010. He has previously been male and reserve overall champion at Lurgan and is out of a dam by Strathisla Shadrach and goes back to Baileys Barracuda.
Winning the recorded ram lamb class was Willie Tait’s lamb T86 12:060 from the Burnview floc (lot 89). Sired by Cairness Liam he is out of a dam by Castleisle Impact and goes back to Burnview Beamer. He sells tomorrow with an index of 3.28 and is just one of 29 recorded lambs catalogued from an overall entry of 247. Second to him was Jim Fleming with a lamb from the Hallhill flock, 35N 12:030. This is by Forkins Favourite and out of a dam by Cairness Direct Line, while in third was Antony Glaves with his lamb M17 12:002, a Cairness Carbon son out of a dam by Tomcroft Fusion.
The open ram lamb class was won by the overall champion from Robbie Wilson, with Gary Beacom’s lamb second in this class.
The group of three class was taken by Jimmy Douglas, Cairness, with lots 152, 153 and 157 these being two lambs by Cairness Cyclone and one by Whitestone Footprint.Second here was Robbie Wilson with lambs by Forkins Figo (lots 133, 134 and 137), while third was George Stuart with lambs by Ardlea Champion and Meikleson Square Up (lots 165, 166 and 171)
In the Elite Commercial ram lamb class the winner was George Stuart’s lamb 1W 12:039 (lot 167). He is sired by Lakeview Irish Cream and out of a dam by Cairness Bondi.Second here was G J Christie’s lamb from the Balquhain flock PDN 12:003. This one is by Strathisla Sea Bird and out of a dam by Glenhead Golden Phoenix. Third in this class was clinched by Alistair Gault’s first lamb in tomorrow, AOR 12:027. This is by Ardlea Alonso and out of a dam by Cairness Scholes.
And taking the award for the best lamb from the Northern Area was the overall champion, with reserve honours here going to Jimmy Douglas with his first lamb from the prize winning group of three 33H 12:021. This one is by Cairness Cyclone and out of a dam by Whitestone Warrior which was bought for 4000gns last November.
Stirling must have a buzz in the air now as a new breed record has just been set by Dan Tynan, Ardlea flock, Co Laois, who has just sold a lamb by Cairness Liam out of a ewe by Cairness Goldust for 90,000gns, with the buyer being Myfyr Evans for his Rhaeadr flock. A full brother to this lamb will be offered for sale in Roscrea. Underbidder here was believed to be Jimmy Douglas.
Also in the Ardlea pen was one by Pexhill Real Lucky out of a daughter of Cairness Cold Play, this one went at 7000gns.
Just prior to that, Myfyr’s run topped at 14,000gns for a son of Baileys BMW out of a Thurston Calzaghe ewe who was breed champion at the RWAS and second prize gimmer at RHAS in 2009.
Selling at 8000gns for Myfyr was a triplet lambb Baileys Brigadier The Second out of a ewe by Cairness New Approach whose twin brother sold in Edinburgh for 4000gns and goes back to the 70,000gns Rhaeadr Rossi.
At the samemoney was another by Baileys BMW this time out of a Baileys Blockbuster ewe.Also in his pen was the 6000gns son of Limestone To-Tal out of a Strathisla Speed daughter which was purchased at the innfield dispersal last year.
Topping the offering from the Whitestone flock of WG Troup, Aberdeenshire was a lamb by Cairness Liam out of a Baileys Harvey daughter. This one sold at 10,000gns.
